I have removed an old Lundbergs portal and replaced it with a frame made of MDF. The frame only extends a few mm beyond the wall. Now I need to attach the baseboards and need tips on how to do it the nicest way. I was thinking of angling it about 20-30 degrees, but maybe it could be done more elegantly? Anyone with an opinion and taste?

  • MDF frame and skirting board installed at wall corner, with wooden floor and patterned wallpaper visible.
  • MDF frame replacing old portal, with floor molding at a 20-30 degree angle next to patterned wallpaper and wooden floor.
  • Close-up of MDF frame edge on a wooden floor with partial wallpaper, showing angled cut for skirting board attachment. Seeking advice for aesthetic connection.
I think it looks nice when you mitre 45 degrees in the opposite direction to what you have done and then a small additional piece that is mitred 45 degrees. In this way, the profile of the skirting board continues all the way to the wall.

Ah, at first I didn't understand what you meant but then I got it. Yes, that would have been nice 👍

This is what I mean
