Removed the old trim between the door frame and the wall as it was cracked and ugly, and it also let in cold air. Now, however, the wall looks awful and there is also missing insulation between the frame and the wall.

What I'm planning to do is place a draft strip between the door frame and the wall, and then I need to get up a nice trim that also seals well. I'll post pictures of how it looks, what should I do? The inner wall has crumbled in at the corner, it's not possible to attach a trim completely against the wall as it is uneven, I prefer to avoid sanding and such. Latex.

Not much to choose from, plane and buy a planed board, place it flush against the frame and as tight as possible against the wall, then apply latex sealant in the gap between the board and the wall, and paint.

Thank you for your responses, it's probably the same solution as before. Here is the old strip with a whole lot of sealant left on it . Is there any way to determine if it's latex caulk? It's soft at least. I would prefer to avoid nailing into the frame as well, any tips on good construction adhesive? A piece of old trim covered with soft sealant rests on a wooden floor, possibly indicating a previous latex caulking application. You can also glue it with latex sealant, it holds well. Apply a thin layer on the entire part that goes against the frame and a slightly thicker layer against the wall, but not all the way, otherwise you won't get that block. Click a little here and there, and press against the other wall overnight, so it stays in place. At the same time, you get a seal against the frame that is paintable. A chisel is good for removing excess, then wipe off any that squeezes out with a wet cloth, as latex sealant is water-soluble.
