I have drawn a beautiful little staircase for a side entrance to the house that I plan to build from pressure-treated wood. How much "waste" should I calculate with when buying lumber? The longest pieces I will use are 1.20 long, and I don't want to splice. I was thinking of accounting for 25% waste, have I allowed enough then?

It should be enough, but it really depends on what lengths they happen to have at the lumberyard.

The best thing you can do (in my experience) is to calculate how many pieces you need of each length and then go to the lumberyard and do a bit of puzzle-solving.
