how is the OSB mounted if you have horizontal 45 studs?
do you use noggins in between or is it mounted horizontally-??

Of course, you can mount it horizontally. If you are unsure whether the plaster will cover the joints, you can always reinforce the joints that are formed.

The question should be, Do you usually install studs horizontally? No, but sometimes it happens, and consequently, the OSB is installed horizontally.... This is a non-issue from a construction perspective....

Now I put plywood, but it makes no difference.
Standing posts, then I braced horizontally to reduce the thermal bridge, and plywood horizontally and vertical drywall. No seams over each other, and it aligns and becomes straight and nice.

Yes, the OSB is the board you are describing, most people think it is better than chipboard, including myself, check here http://www.traguiden.se/TGtemplates/popup1spalt.aspx?id= and here http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oriented_strand_board, so you might get some more info.
