We had a water leak from a radiator a while ago, so we had to tear down the wall and insulation in the room under the radiator.

Now everything is dried and ready, so I've started restoring the wall. It's additionally insulated from the inside from the log wall, and it's not exactly standard measurements between the studs or anything. The interior wall panel itself is a chipboard.

The problem is that now, after I've put up the chipboard, it's bowing outward, bulging in the middle. What could be causing this? I installed about 2cm too thick insulation, but I thought it would compress? It must be better with tight insulation rather than trying to make it 2cm thinner, as I could accidentally take too much and create an air pocket, I thought. But anyway, the wall is bowing.

It's possible it was like that before, and I didn't notice, and the studs are not straight. There has been a dehumidifier running for a week and a half recently, and maybe that's why they've warped.

Does anyone know a good way to level the wall "from the outside," meaning I don't have to open it up again? Could it really be that it's the 2cm too thick insulation causing the board to bow?

Anyone have any tips at all or a guess as to what it might be?

To begin with, insulation should not be compressed, as it loses its insulating properties.

How wide is the gap between the studs? I'm having trouble understanding how a chipboard can bulge out between the studs unless they are very widely spaced, or alternatively, the chipboard is very thin.

Exactly, my tip is that the chipboards themselves are the culprit in this case.

They are not the entire wall that I had to remove, so it's the same dimensions as before... 12mm thick... I don't remember the exact measurements of the studs but it was around 40-50cm... I don't think it's the chipboard, it felt sturdy anyway :)
