Hello,

I need to do something about my worn-out entrance/stairs.
I would like to get away with it as simply and cheaply as possible.

I don't have many mm up to the front door, so covering it is unfortunately not an option otherwise that would have been the solution.

Do you have any clever solution suggestions?

  • Worn outdoor concrete steps with metal railings leading to a wooden door, showing moss growth and a drainage grate at the base.
  • Worn exterior entrance with concrete stairs and railing, two large cylindrical stone planters, and a lattice panel under the stairs.
  • Worn entrance steps with rusted metal railing and a wooden lattice below, leading to a brown door on a brick building. A wooden deck and paint bucket are visible.
  • Worn wooden entrance door with geometric patterns, above a weathered concrete step with peeling paint. Brick wall visible on the side.
There aren't many options. Remove as much old paint as possible. Fill in holes with suitable mortar. Repaint with appropriate paint.

The same goes for iron details, brush off and repaint.

It will look incredibly much fresher afterward.

Alternative microcement? Should be thin enough to work, I think. However, the surfaces need to be sanded clean regardless, I would guess.

Thanks for the response :)

What is the best way to sand off the paint? And achieve a smooth surface?

I would probably start with an angle grinder with a wire brush. Concrete can withstand quite a lot.
