How do I repair a cracked retaining wall?

A simple question, how do I repair these cracks so that they never crack again?

I know that such repairs can often start cracking again, but how do I minimize the risk?

It cannot be repaired without it just cracking again.

There isn't any more elastic material you can use to repair that stretches instead of cracking. How does the average person handle the same problem to make it look nice? Should one perhaps cover the wall with something?

Excavate the back, fill with something like leca? repair with some elastic epoxy putty?
more challenging: Excavate, cast new behind, fix the aesthetics..

Good idea, I could cast a "stödmur" behind and then fix the aesthetics.

The painters I know use painter's caulk on cracks in walls. Then paint over.

However, these look like you have to dig out, possibly lay drainage pipes and fill with gravel. Then repair the wall.
