I am working on a simple wood construction. It will be a frame. I am using regular white glue and clamps.

I think it's starting to dry quite quickly and I think I may need to go back to the first gluing and fine-tune them.

I would like the glue to remain "sticky" a little longer.

Approximately between 5-10 minutes.

One thought I have is whether to thin the glue slightly.

Another is whether to wet the affected wood surfaces before applying the glue, and if so, how much.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Once it's adjusted, it can dry "for as long as it wants."

If it's regular white glue, dilute it with some water so it doesn't "grip" as quickly.

Titebond III is a white glue (which happens to be slightly beige) that has a longer open time. How long depends on a number of factors, but they themselves state around 20 minutes.
