Hole-drilling in floor joists, seeking opinions and experiences.

Okay. So just so i understand. If there is a beam in the end of the opening now i need to replace it with a new, and if there is no there is maybe no need to place one if i larger the hole?

If you're already at it with a hammer and chisel, I'll tell you you misunderstood! I told you you could enlarge the hole the way I suggested, but an engineer would have to calculate the beam. And any engineer would blindly agree. But your ideas require verification of what's there and a certified engineer to provide a specific solution. In the event of a disaster, your excuse that some guy on a forum said something like that won't be accepted in court.
