I have a glazed conservatory of 30 m2 with an insulated laminated timber frame and interior paneling. The purpose of the insulation when the conservatory was built was primarily to keep the solar heat out, not to heat it during the winter.

Now I'm eager to switch to insulated sliding sections and install an air heat pump to use the room year-round and provide cooling in the summer. The problem is that there's no plastic foil in the walls and ceiling (what a miss!), otherwise, it's insulated with 195 mm and has an air gap and raw boards, etc.

What should I do? Do I need to tear down the interior paneling and install plastic?

Hi Jannebanan.

Is the conservatory standalone? I have a standalone one and an air-source heat pump. Check my pictures and get back to me if you want.
