As a note regarding cost:

We had a 5.5 m glulam beam dismantled to replace with an iron beam, installed a 1.6 m iron beam (both of which were to be rust-proofed) and a 1 m wooden beam (two 45x95 studs), as well as pillars for all these. This work included surface restoration (practically: covering the beams with gypsum, spackling, applying microlit fabric, and painting; installing ceiling moldings, custom-cutting a shelf and a bench top, and reinstalling). The calendar time spent was about 3 weeks, and there were 1-3 people on site most of the time (4 people when installing the large beam, none when the paint dried). Total cost about 75,000 SEK, including materials. To this was added construction cost: about 6,000 SEK.

If one considers doing some of the work themselves - demolition of the inner ceiling and surface restoration, for example, one can reduce the cost quite nicely. An acquaintance here on the forum received an offer to demolish two load-bearing walls and replace with pillars + bearing line: 33,000 including labor, materials, and constructor.
