Hi!
I am going to hang up a bathroom cabinet (net weight 12kg) and a vanity (26kg) on a bathroom wall with tiles and triple gypsum behind it. However, I am unsure of how to attach these. If I search for molly for triple gypsum (on Bauhaus), I only find ones that can handle up to 45mm, while the wall with tiles is 50mm. Is a regular plug sufficient given that there are three layers of gypsum plus tiles? And what diameter should be chosen in that case?

Best regards,
Johan

  • Digital caliper measuring a bathroom wall thickness at 50.65mm, with pipes visible in the background.

I would probably go with some drywall anchor like Snaptoggle for at least the vanity. You never know if someone decides to sit on the edge of the vanity and it creates quite a large tensile load.

However, you need some space behind the boards (48mm) to twist the anchor into place, and if you have packed insulation, it might be a hassle to get it positioned correctly.

You just need to buy some longer m6 screws because I think the ones that come with it are only 60mm.
