I am planning to build a custom desk... or rather, I will be attaching a relatively heavy ash countertop as a desk in the children's room. I have purchased planed pine 21x43, which I intend to use as a supporting strip on two walls and a wardrobe frame (see image). The "studs" will be placed about 20 cm below the strip above the panel.
The base on the walls is 12 mm fiberboard with 10 mm MDF on top. Behind the fiberboard is insulation.
I plan to glue the studs with PL400 and screw them in where there is a stud behind. I also intend to use 50 mm brads to hold it in place.
Will the construction be strong enough for the countertop to be used as a desk?
