We want to install a sunroom section in a wall of the vacation house. The section is 400 cm wide. Four "regular" roof trusses with supports on the beam above the window section, somewhat evenly distributed. The roof is 6.7 meters wide metal roof with a 22-degree pitch and snow zone 2.5. Is a glulam beam of 115 x 315 enough above the window section? We could fit in a 360 high, but 405 would be trickier.

If there are freestanding roof trusses of 6.7 meters (such as a truss model), then 115x315 is sufficient to keep the deflection over the window section under spv/300 i.e., about 13 mm. Specifically for sliding windows, there may be reasons to limit the maximum deflection a bit more. I would go for 140x315 or 115x360.

You improve my night's sleep :-)
I'm looking at a 115x360.
