I have a bedroom in the basement with aerated concrete that is fairly even except for some "bullet holes" and other small imperfections. My idea is to glue 6mm gypsum on the wall and wallpaper to remove the "basement look," but I wonder if there are alternatives to Ardex S48 which seems to be very expensive?

I have just over 32 sqm of wall area, so I hope there are some other cost-effective solutions. As I understand it, two 25kg Ardex S48 are needed for my 32 sqm, and that's likely to cost 3k just for the adhesive, right?

Yep, you can use a putty mix, search my name and gypsum and glue and you'll find it on the forum - don't remember the details anymore but the boards are still stuck to the wall.... :)

I was thinking of checking with those of you who know
What options do I have?

I am attaching a picture of the room. The walls are painted (plastic paint) but apart from an old flooding in a stormwater pipe, there don't seem to be any moisture problems. We've lived in the house for 6 years and the whole area is known to be well-drained (lots of sand).

I think my options are between:

  • plastering the walls
  • screwing aluminum profiles, insulating and screwing drywall
  • gluing drywall
It seems that plastering is the cheapest option, but since we want to wallpaper, plastering might not be preferable, right?

Maybe one can combine, for example, screwing aluminum profiles and insulating the long wall (which is an exterior wall) and gluing the rest?

Can anyone give me some practical tips?

  • An empty room with white painted walls, a wooden ceiling, and two light fixtures. The floor appears bare. The room has no visible furniture.
