Hello!
I'm considering adding interior insulation with 45mm glass wool and a vapor barrier. Is this a really bad idea? Will there be moisture in the walls? I'm a bit hesitant to install a vapor barrier as it, in my view, would make it too tight. However, I can't justify the price for organic insulation, hence a compromise with glass wool. It's also important to have high sound insulation, which determined the decision.

The house is an old log cabin we're trying to fix up on a budget.

Moisture migration goes from warm to cold, so you are unlikely to trap moisture, causing problems.

With fiberglass, there should be plastic. If you can seal the inside and the walls don't get wet from rain, it works.

If the walls are thin, a vapor barrier is not needed. If it's a log cabin and you want 45mm, I would go for cellulose/wood fiber without a vapor barrier, just gypsum+paint or make it completely covered with a vapor barrier.

Fiberglass is cheap, but keep in mind that higher quality insulation also provides better insulation.

For soundproofing, the important thing is that it's sealed, then thickness, and then mass. The type of insulation matters less.
