Yes, it is possible to adjust the sleeve with the screw tightened, but it's easiest to loosen the screw about a quarter turn.

There's the answer then! I'll try that next time 😂 It may seem obvious in hindsight, and I do feel a bit silly, but... the bedroom door will have a mixed bag because I'm definitely not doing that again! Thanks for the revelation!

I usually use wooden wedges and regular wood screws. Sometimes it's five-inch nails instead of screws. That works too.

Everything works! Now, of course, these were pre-drilled
