I have hired a contractor who lives in the same area where I live for a construction job. Foundation for an Attefall house of 30 sqm. The Attefall house was transported here by crane truck and so on. As the area where the house stands was recently dug up, the contractor decided to just lay gravel or macadam, unsure which. Well, two young guys came, who, as I understood, had never laid a foundation with stone slabs. When the contractor arrived, they had dug a frame around where the house would stand, after which they had to come back the next day for 4 hours and fill in the hole with gravel, and pack it with a machine. Now to the question, what would this work cost generally or how long would it take for a contractor to fix this, so no digging, just gravel fetched nearby + slabs + machine + wheel loader.

The price is determined by what you have agreed upon before starting the work?

I'm having a bit of trouble keeping up, but if you just had a contractor there who did this very job, then you have an answer to how long it took and what it cost.

But let's assume you weren't completely satisfied with the work, that you thought it took longer, cost more, or was questionably executed. Then you might want to get others' assessments to determine if that was the case. It would help you to more clearly describe what your fundamental problem is so that we're not groping in the dark.

You mention that the guys who came had never dug a foundation with stone slabs, but at the same time, no digging was needed? When you say "the contractor" but separate it from "the guys," what do you mean? Aren't the two guys the contractor? Or how does it fit together? Are they the personnel who did the job and the contractor is the one you've had the dialogue with at the firm?

Oh dear Hemingway, what can I say. I apologize that I'm not well-versed in the construction industry and that I might not express myself correctly. Do you have the answer to my question?! How long can it take to transport gravel 500 meters, about 10 tons, and then pack the gravel, measure, and lay 14 garden slabs on it. Pronto! No more, no less, no digging, no complications. Flat near the road. Sincerely, MissSnickare

Hello

Moving 10 tons of gravel 500 meters takes about 2 minutes with a truck. But the truck needs to be driven there, the gravel loaded, and then the truck driven away afterwards. So at least 1 hour will likely be charged, probably more.

Spreading the gravel so it's level, compacting, and laying the slabs is something a skilled excavator operator could do in less than 1 hour. But just like with the truck, the excavator/loader needs to be driven to you and driven away afterwards, which you also have to pay for.
If the work is done manually, it would take me at least a full day, which is 8 hours.

I would say the total sum could be 10000-20000 for everything.

Hello, and thanks for the reply. The gravel was taken from the area, probably already paid for by the association. The wheel loader is also standing on the site, as the entrepreneur is often hired by the association (Samfälligheten in other words), and the work is often done by younger guys from the school.
