It's been a long time since I was involved in renovations, so I'm unsure about most things :) Currently, I'm repainting a bedroom so we can move in there with furniture. In the future, I'm considering replacing the floor moldings with something more period-appropriate (the house is from around 1780) and also the window trim. (It seems like the room was renovated and insulated (treetex) and the floor was then replaced (it runs crosswise compared to the other floors and is varnished, not a scrubbed floor).

Is there anything specific to keep in mind in this context? I'm attaching pictures so you can see what the moldings look like, as well as the original window trim. Ideally, it would be best to change everything at once, but I want to get into the room this year ... :) (It's a summer house, so I might do it some fall ...)

  • Old window frame with chipped white paint and visible signs of wear, showing a close-up of the corner detailing and texture.
  • Window frame with peeling paint and a windowsill holding paintbrushes, a key, and two white candlesticks, set against a partially painted wall.
