Have chosen Oak parquet from Eksjöhus (ha ha..), but I'm starting to think about switching it to a Birch floor instead which is sooo light and nice.

Anyone have Birch? Does it yellow over the years since it's so light??? Does it go well with the oak doors in the kitchen and the oak bar counter?

Oh dear, oh dear.... :)

We have birch parquet from the late 50s in our house. We removed a closet wall this winter and found parquet underneath it. The floor had darkened and yellowed significantly over the years. From being almost white, it is today a few shades lighter than untreated pine. However, it is very beautiful because it has a warmer tone than a pine floor.

Our birch kitchen is barely two years old. The doors have yellowed slightly, but above all, the grain of the wood has become more pronounced.

When it comes to birch floors with an oak kitchen, I would consider the color shades. Birch becomes warm over the years, while oak often becomes gray in tone even when stained. Oak is also coarse-grained, unlike birch. Personally, I would be a bit cautious about matching them.

Hello Fru Lind,
Hmmm...interesting opinions. Thanks! I know too little to envision it, but I guess I'll have to go and look at some combinations so maybe I'll get wiser.
