I am considering raising part of our hallway floor by about 10 cm to then lay tiles on the raised section. The house is a split-level, and the hallway is in the lower part. Currently, there is a linoleum mat directly on the concrete floor. The plan is to build a frame with studs and lay chipboard flooring, followed by tiles.

*Is there a risk of trapping moisture if done this way?

*Can the chipboard rot from underneath?

I think it sounds like a bad solution, I would have laid EPS then levelling compound.

Why raise it up then??

If you put up studs and lay floor chipboard, you also have to glue floor gypsum or reinforce and level with self-leveling compound to be able to lay tiles...
 
I would keep chipboard flooring away from the basement section as well as framed constructions; it doesn't take much moisture for you to have problems.

If you have plenty of time to wait, pour 100 mm of concrete and wait until it has fully set before laying tiles. If you're in more of a hurry, EPS works excellently.
 
Ok, by EPS do you mean EPS cement?
It is actually three rooms where the floor needs to be raised, a storage room that will become a sauna, an adjoining walk-in closet that will become a pre-room to the sauna, and the recreation room part in the hallway.
Recreation room approx: 12 m2, sauna approx: 7 m2, and pre-room approx 5 m2.
The reason for the elevation is primarily to achieve a nice elevation from the hallway to the recreation area's part that will become like a relaxation space, but also to avoid removing the linoleum flooring in the other two rooms.
Is the latter perhaps unavoidable?

I would recommend removing the linoleum flooring and not incorporating it into any construction.

You have large areas to prepare, so using EPS might be quite expensive, I suspect, without having full insight into the prices. However, concrete is cheaper, of course; the "problem" with concrete is that it takes time to dry sufficiently for tiles to be laid.

You could consider breaking up the floor (then you won't have to deal with the linoleum flooring :)) and building a new slab from scratch with insulation, allowing for underfloor heating in the areas that aren't a sauna ;)
 
ok, if you instead lay oak flooring in the den area. Can I then raise it with a stud construction? Or should this be avoided in general?

The problem with framing constructions and organic materials in basements is moisture; particle boards, wood studs, etc. mold and/or rot when it gets damp. But of course, there are houses where drainage and ground conditions mean you don't have moisture problems, but you can't be completely sure that your own house is one of those. Additionally, ground conditions and the path of water through the ground can change, so most of us avoid using organic materials in basements. So I think it should generally be avoided.

But in your case, I would start by checking if there are moisture problems today, and if so, address them first. Then you could use metal studs that withstand moisture better than wood, for example.

We have 2 living rooms in the basement where we have laid laminate flooring. We checked if there was a lot of moisture (with the plastic method, i.e., I taped construction plastic on the concrete slab about 1.5 m2 to see if you get moisture on the underside or not), which there wasn't. Then we redid the drainage, sealed with Platonmat and after that, we placed indoor Platon on the concrete slab, insulation boards with aluminum plates, and underfloor heating pipes with the laminate floor on top. In the rest of the basement, we have tiles or just painted concrete as flooring.
