I have no idea if I posted this in the right thread!

We have a boring worn-out pine staircase that we plan to renovate without spending too much money.
It is Dick so that two steps have cracked/split lengthwise in the middle of the step. Is there any way to repair this that would hold reasonably well? Glue?

Any ideas?

It might be possible to get glue into the crack and force the step back together.

But as Nimajneb says, a picture would help.

I filled the cracks in my basement stairs with Plastic Padding's Chemical Wood. It’s still holding up after 1 year.

Will try to fix the photo during the evening :)

A wide crack approximately 20 cm long on a wooden surface, possibly indicating a structural issue.
Here is another "problem"
quite a wide crack of about 20 cm

Wooden staircase step slightly shifted from the stringer, showing alignment issue.
This is present on almost every step, the step itself has crawled out a bit from the stringer...

Close-up of a wooden floorboard with a visible crack; shadows obscure part of the floor, showing the crack is tight but separates when stepped on.
Here is the actual crack, difficult to get a picture. It is "tight" and the trä is closely joined but it does split when you step on it...

Only if it splits when you step on it, I would use glue and clamps.
