Fittings on stone post

I will attach fittings for a gate to a stone post. How do you do it?

Should one use plugs, expansion screws, bolts, and some form of chemical?

If the gate is not very large, I would use good plugs and screws, they can handle a lot. If the gate is large, go with expansion bolts. Chemical anchoring might be right, but I'm not very familiar with it.

Chemical anchors might be an idea because it can crack with plug/mechanical anchor. Through bolt is otherwise simple and will surely work.
