I am expanding my business (cider mill/cider brewery) and have purchased a 20' container. It is located about 1.5 meters from my barn. A small roof will be built between the barn and the container, and the space will be used for storing garden tools. Outside the container (left on the picture), a "small" generator of 100 Kva will be placed. This will also have a roof and metal walls as weather protection. Due to insurance regulations for my agricultural property, I cannot have a roof that extends from the barn all the way over the generator unless I fire-rate the barn wall EI60, which is not feasible. I have been approved to have a roof that extends from the barn to the left side of the container and then a separate roof from the container out over the generator.
Now, I am stuck on how practically to build these roofs. Primarily, how to ensure the roof over the generator is fireproof against the container. One alternative is to build as I have drawn in one of the pictures. Black is a metal roof (type corrugated metal) and red is a metal angle that runs along the entire container to prevent flames from reaching the other roof. My initial thought is that this solution will be expensive, so I am considering buying another container to place the generator in. The cost for another container is about 23000 including VAT.
