I'm working in the garage and planning to put drywall on the walls and ceiling, but it occurred to me that it might be a good idea to put up a mesh between the outer wall and outer roof to prevent animals from getting into the insulation I plan to place between the outer and inner...

So I went to the building supply store and found aluminum mesh, costing 120kr per meter, which wasn't great... 700kr for a roll (didn't check the number of meters) of plastic mesh...

The question is, what should I do, what should I choose? Or is it overkill? Plastic mesh they probably gnaw through immediately? I also suspect aluminum mesh won't keep out mice either?

Or should I use wire mesh, like chicken wire but fancier with square holes, probably with 1 square cm holes...will it stop mice? Or maybe use flat bar with holes...but it might restrict ventilation too much if it needs to breathe...
