Leca is usually mortared with B mortar, so it works well.
If there are large holes, it's practical to have some shards of lecablocks on hand that you can stick into the mortar so it doesn't become an overly large lump. This helps prevent the patch from running off and also prevents shrinkage cracks.
Since it's important to really fill the damage from the bottom, you should get a joint trowel before you start. It's a masonry trowel that's as wide as an ice cream stick, roughly. A narrow putty knife with a handle is also helpful.
Wet the lecablocks before you start so they don't absorb the water from the mortar.
