Hi,
I have an opening between the kitchen and living room where two floors with different levels meet. The idea is to place a threshold (flat) there and build it up from underneath.

The problem is that the area there needs to be filled and leveled a bit. Is there any convenient compound to fill and level it with? I assume spackling is out of the question?

Tips are gratefully received.

Husfix, or floor spackel works well

Goes well with almost anything, such as some fine concrete or floor leveling compound, as long as there aren't a lot of holes for it to run down into.

Husfix seems good. Is it easy to mix by hand or do I need to get a machine mixer? It's not huge volumes that need mixing.

It works to mix by hand. But a whisk makes it a little easier.
