Hello
We have removed our wood stove and are moving it to the downstairs.
So now we have an open hole right into the flue/chimney.

What should be used to fill that hole and ensure it is completely sealed, since we will be burning downstairs, which belongs to the same chimney pipe?

Concrete, brick, drywall?
Are there any specific regulations or is it okay to do it yourself? :)

Grateful for all tips and ideas!

Open hole in brick wall where a fireplace flue was removed, highlighting the challenge of sealing it.

Open chimney hole showing bricks inside; surface around hole is rough and appears to be concrete. Question on sealing the hole for safe fireplace use.

Image would have helped

But if it is a brick chimney, it should be bricked up again with bricks and mortar.

It's okay to do it yourself. The stove move must be approved by a chimney sweep before you can start burning.

Added pictures now.
Is brick.
But isn't it difficult to brick such a small hole.
About 20cm diameter

It's just a matter of sealing it up, buy some bricks and a bag of c-bruk.
It's important to wet both the existing and the new bricks for a few minutes beforehand.
Break pieces of brick when they can't fit whole.
