Need to make a larger number of fastenings in the brick joint. 40 x 50 mm battens.
Normally, this is done in the brick, but in this case, no drilling is allowed in the brick. The building was constructed in 1970 and the brick is interior. Thought I would check if anyone has tips on the best fastening for this. I was thinking of nail plug but won't have the opportunity to test before the actual situation.
I agree that one should not drill into the beautiful brickwork. Nail plug sounds like a sensible alternative to me. Easier to hit the mark than with traditional plugs and screws since you drill through all the materials. I think you need rather long plugs (and long and slender carbide drills) to ensure you end up in the actual mortar rather than just the joint.
Yes, it is a stretched canvas of 20 m2 that needs to be mounted. Behind it will be sound-absorbing material.
It seems to be well jointed. Using spike plugs is obviously more convenient, so I'll test that and have chemical anchors as a backup.
But if you want to take them off, it's quite simple. A few hits with a hammer, and it's sorted, then you just pull it out, or you over-tighten the bolt until the gängstångrn releases...
Take an 8mm nylon plug without a flange. Then you can drill through the stud directly.
Insert a 6*110mm screw at the end of the plug, drive it through the stud and into the joint.
When there are 2-3 cm left before reaching the bottom, screw the rest.
It sits rock-solid and is easy to dismantle.
