I am going to replace the roof on the house soon and thought I'd take the opportunity to extend the eaves, but I'm a bit unsure how much to build it out though! I have already extended the eave on the long sides of the house - I built it to be about 45-50 cm from the facade to the fascia board, i.e., excluding the gutter.

But now it's about the short sides/gables of the house... Should I build the same sized overhang there or what do you think will look best? Do people usually have the same length overhang on the gables as on the long sides or shorter/longer?
Do you think about 45 cm will be a good overhang on the short sides as well? :)

It's a 1.5-story wooden villa btw..
Grateful for tips!

The same measurement works well, 45cm is a good size. Perhaps the size of the house matters for how the proportions look, but on our house, 47cm from panel board - outside of rake board/outside of tile board works well. It is about 5m wide and 12m long.

A white and red-roofed two-story house, approximately 5m wide and 12m long, surrounded by grass and trees.

I have extended the legs and the roof overhang so that they are the same measurement (about 45cm). Tried several different measurements but felt that 45-50 cm looked best, you don't want it to look stunted or as if you put a hat on the house... :)

I have extended mine so that it accommodates 4 pieces of 22x120 boards plus some space in between. Same around the entire house.

Thank you for your responses! Seems like I'm not entirely off track at least..
Feel free to post pictures of your houses and roof overhangs like ronolo did! Nice house btw :)
