Hello!

We have a two-story townhouse and we would like to build a proper entrance hall.

Currently, you enter directly into the kitchen, which is both uncharming and impractical. We have seen several neighbors who have done something similar, and I have obtained the drawings for such a build from the municipality.

We would be very happy to get some tips on things to consider.

The extension will be built on top of a patio that is already there, and how do we proceed? Should we pour concrete underneath + lay XPS? Or is it enough to use a frame + XPS?

In the picture, it first shows how it looks today, and a picture of how the neighbor has done it, which we are planning to mimic.

  • Blueprints showing a two-story house layout and facade for a planned entrance hall extension, including current and proposed designs.
  • Floor plan of a two-story townhouse showing entrance, hall, kitchen, dining area, living room, utility rooms, and an outdoor patio.
We are thinking of connecting the house with the förråd :)

Puff? Anyone want to chime in with some wise words? Or should we just go ahead and put up a hall on top of the patio? Attach it to the huakroppen and the förrådet?

Well, it really depends on what it looks like today, how you want to handle levels, etc.

In general, I think it would be best to cast a slab, preferably with underfloor heating. Then you know it's stable and properly done, and you don't have to worry about it. Building directly on a deck, I don't think is a good idea at all.

Then the big question is – are there children? If so, a hallway can never be too big... as well as the utility spaces and closets. Is there, for example, a possibility to take a piece of the storage and make a hallway out of it, and perhaps have a laundry room directly inside there as well? That is, divide the storage with a wall across and then tear down the wall to the planned hallway.

There is a level difference between the storage and the future hall/house, so it was dismissed to also build in part of the storage.

What is today on the drawing as toilet and laundry will become a large space with a laundry room and a toilet. We've thought a lot about this laundry room because it's something we miss today!

Then we still have a need for quite a large storage as we have a lot of stuff... large built-in wardrobes will also be built on the upper floor, LOVE storage!

If we were to cast a slab there, then we would cut away that part of the deck and reinforce what's left with a new beam?

Yes.
