Hi,
I have bought a cottage that is quite close to a country road in Gotland, and I'm considering trying to build a noise barrier of some sort. I have found one that I like aesthetically, Noistop green. But I think it is a bit too expensive (about 2000kr for a section that is 1.0X2.0m) and would like to build one myself. I need about 40-50m.

What I like is that it has a net on the outside that one can grow something along, like Virginia creeper or hops.
I read about Noistop that it is built of rockwool, metal, and net. I think: It should be possible to build something similar, but with a wooden frame?
Wooden posts, some kind of framework, some kind of insulation that is held in place with a net.
When I read about rockwool, I find that it is the same as mineral wool (or?) and that it can be carcinogenic. Moreover, it releases toxic gases when heated.
I don't like this, and want to try to find some ecologically sustainable material to use in the same way as the rockwool.
So I need an insulating material, that can be used outdoors and is not toxic...
Anyone with tips?
Thoughts about my idea?
