I have a wall that I want to cover with wet room board. The reason for using a wet room board is to minimize the risk of moisture because there will be a lot of splashing.

I have now been working on it and almost drilled through the wall. I can't get it right. I first bought a cement-based adhesive called highflex S2 DF, which was recommended by Bauhaus. But the thing refuses to cooperate.

What is an easier way to attach my boards?

The boards that are on now aren't even secured; a little nudge and they're down.

  • A kitchen wall with a partially installed backer board above a sink, showing exposed wires and tools, as part of a renovation project.
  • Close-up of a wall with multiple drill holes and partially attached cement board. Visible texture and unfinished appearance indicate ongoing renovation work.
  • Two panels, one bare concrete and one installed, with handwritten dimensions "150x65 x2" and "3", illustrating a wall renovation project.
Type of adhesive PL400, 600?

And it adheres well?

Normal red plugs should suffice.

Difficult to secure a drywall panel, I think. PL600 should be the model. But if you can temporarily fix the panel with a prop against the opposite wall after gluing, I would probably try using some fischer UX plugs for the drywall screws as extra security.

PL400 takes a long time to cure, PL600 should be much more suitable for these types of applications (bonds directly).

Alternatively, I would have tried with tile adhesive or gypsum plaster.

I did the same several years ago, and then I used something the store called gipslim. There are a number of such products if you google. It's likely that gipsputs would work just as well.

The question is how you have treated the surface. Is it completely brushed clean and primed? If there is a layer of dust, it's not surprising that it doesn't stick.

It's clean brushed, but no Primer?

Could be the reason if the surface absorbs a lot. Is it concrete or lightweight concrete? It's hard to tell from the pictures.

The product looks correct otherwise, it should work.
