I live in a three-story house and have just renovated our old worn pine staircase between the first and second floor. It was a whole weekend in the dust cloud while the paint stripper and sander removed the old surface.

Now I'm considering what to do with the other staircase. Even with a really good ladder, it will likely take significantly more time because you can't choose your working position as easily, and there are more steps to sand underneath (I skipped the back of the steps on some of the lowest ones, no one will see them anyway).

One thought is, of course, to sand the staircase step by step little by little, but there is really no way to enclose the staircase without the dust flying around the entire apartment. I've looked a bit at Festool sanders. Does anyone have experience with these? Does it become almost completely dust-free? And is it almost dust-free even if you connect them to a cheap shop vacuum from Jula (if you buy both the sander and vacuum from Festool, it starts to become almost cheaper just to hire a craftsman to do the whole job).
