I'm renovating a room. I was thinking of putting up new renovation drywall boards on the existing wall to avoid tearing it down and going through all that hassle. But now I see that one of the walls is drywall, while the other three are made of tretex with some plaster and wallpaper directly on it. So the question is: Can you put new drywall boards on the existing wall that already has drywall?
Image 1: A thin layer of plaster. Uneven, hence the many bubbles in the wallpaper.
Image 2: An existing drywall board about 1cm thick.

No problem, just find something to screw into.
You need to get long gypsum screws; if there's tretex behind the gypsum as well, you'll probably need at least 55-60 mm screws.
The alternative is to glue the gypsum with mounting adhesive, but it tends to be tricky if it's a bit uneven.
