Hello!
We are renovating a children's room where the chimney stack comes up on half of the short wall.
We have put new drywall on the other walls, but now I'm wondering if we can put drywall on the chimney as well. Today we use oil for heating, but within about 1 month we will switch to geothermal heating. Later we also plan to install a stove.
What else do people use?

I'm not so familiar with the construction market (usually my husband handles it, but he's away, and I thought I'd get all the materials before he comes home), so what is it? Does it resemble drywall in structure, etc.?
In new construction, fire insulation is often done with gypsum in many places. A gypsum board has a fire rating of EI15. Briefly, it is heat and gas tight for 15 minutes. Minerit is also acceptable. A board usually has a fire rating of EI30.
I was not allowed to have regular plasterboard against the chimney (Isokern) according to the chimney sweep. Had to remove a piece of the plasterboard and replace it with gypsum plaster.
Completely idiotic in my opinion, but the chimney sweep's word is apparently law.

I have a similar question here. I'm renovating the upper floor and wondering if it's allowed or if there's any disadvantage to putting OSB & plasterboard on the chimney stack? I now have geothermal heating but have a fireplace on the lower floor so it's used for burning sometimes.
I have a feeling that OSB might be a no-no, but what about plasterboard otherwise?

Plaster is not flammable, so it should be fine, but keep in mind that plaster tends to become porous from prolonged heat, so minerit or something else might be preferable.
OSB is probably not popular against a chimney.
The safest bet is to call the chimney sweep and ask.

When I redid the fireplace, the chimney sweep refused to approve an existing plasterboard cladding of the chimney. I had to replace the plasterboard with minerit. Check with the chimney sweep before you do anything, otherwise it can become unnecessarily expensive.
