Going to put up curtains and thought "yeah, just drill holes and put them up, nice and easy."
Currently have one of these:

I guess it's some form of concrete.
Do I really need to buy/rent a hammer drill/rotary hammer to put up my curtains in the ceiling?

I have tested the old model a couple of times and it is incredibly good value
If you're only going to drill a few times a year, it's a perfectly adequate machine.
