Going to put up curtains and thought "yeah, just drill holes and put them up, nice and easy."
Currently have one of these:

But it didn't go well at all. Barely got a millimeter in.
I guess it's some form of concrete.
Do I really need to buy/rent a hammer drill/rotary hammer to put up my curtains in the ceiling?

Yes, unfortunately

If I were to purchase one now, it could always be good to have at home for future projects and setups, would something like this work?

Seems like a good price for something you don't need professional quality on.

I bought this for my brother http://www.jula.se/catalog/verktyg-...re/elektriska-borrhammare/borrhammare-001199/
He is super satisfied
I have tested the old model a couple of times and it is incredibly good value
If you're only going to drill a few times a year, it's a perfectly adequate machine.
