Hello!

I need to drill a 100-120 mm hole to install a bathroom fan. Unfortunately, the bathroom is already tiled...

Behind the tiles (or rather clinker on the walls) there's gypsum, then I believe it's foam plastic and then concrete, maybe 30-40 cm thick.

Is it possible to do it myself by renting equipment (drill + some kind of stand)?

Does anyone have an idea of what it costs to hire someone for it?

I want to avoid as much dust and mess as possible since we already live in the house!

Best regards,
Jocke

Maybe 5000kr or so for a company, not something you do yourself unfortunately.

Okay, thanks for the info. Any other ideas? I will also add ventilation holes in more places in the basement, but there it is "only" concrete. It will probably be 5 holes in total. I guess it will be cheaper per hole since all the equipment will already be on site...

Answering myself so that others might be helped someday.

A company is on the way now, going to make 2 holes of 102 mm. Charging by the hour and if nothing unusual happens, it will cost between 2-3,000 SEK, so about 1,500 SEK per hole.

Will update when the bill arrives :)

Then came the invoice.

4 drilled holes, about 40 cm concrete, 110mm diameter. 10 hours (2 men at 5 hours each) and setup costs etc. 6,400kr.

The company arrived 1 hour after I called them and finished the same day.

Love it when everything goes smoothly!

Am in the same situation now and wondering: which company (what type of company) did you hire?

Drilling company
Search for concrete and drilling then you will get results.
Keep the drill cores as garden ornaments, especially if you have an older house where they used more ballast.
