Drill a hole in the end grain of the decking..
...could be read in the latest Vi i Villa.
"Drill a hole in the end grain of the decking to reduce the risk of future cracks."
Comments on this? How does this work? There's nothing mentioned about the size of the hole, where it should be placed, etc.

Or not, takes a lot of unnecessary time. Every screw pack I have bought has contained special screws for the end of the decking, goes much faster and easier than having 2 screwdrivers (which many here probably have
) or even worse changing to a drill every time you reach the end.
Am I correct in understanding that the screw packages contain two different types of screws? A regular one and one that can be screwed even at the outermost edge without cracking. Or have I misunderstood the whole thing?Jan-Å said:
That's right, I didn't know it before, but when I opened the packages there was a bag with screws for the ends. I built our deck in 2004 and haven't done anything like that since, so it might have changed in any case.andersmc said:
