Hi, I have a problem, the house we bought in 2019 was built in 1970, is a so-called A-house with an attached garage with a carport in between, you can reach the garage from inside. Over the years, improvements and renovations have been made, in the form of a new kitchen, bathroom, etc. Beams and plastic roof over the carport have been replaced with new ones as they were in poor condition. Now to the problem, when the house was built, a gutter was run through the garage wall from the carport, as the outlet for stormwater runs through the garage floor🥴. My idea is to use the carport as a "cold entrance," put up a sliding glass door along the opening, the roof has been recently renovated, and the surface is clad with decking. One question, can I replace the existing metal pipe with a plastic one and let it continue going through the wall?

Sure, it won't be a better solution for that, what do you think will get better from it?
It almost seems to lie so close to the edge that one should be able to undermine and fiddle out the stormwater pipe on the outside instead, but it's hard to say from the pictures.

Want to avoid rust forming in the pipe through the wall, as the pipe has been there since the late '90s when gutters and garage roof were renovated, there are documents for that. The carport area is now covered with decking with a paved driveway in front. The plan is to install a sliding glass partition on it and turn it into a cold entryway. It's a mystery why they placed the stormwater outlet in the garage when the house was built... most in the area have the same problem. Many have let the rainwater run out onto the driveway by replacing gutters and repositioning downspouts to avoid having a pipe through the wall and risking moisture damage to the wall. Excavating and letting the pipe go on the other side of the wall is not easy, as the stormwater pipe comes up from the floor in the garage, probably goes under the slab and the carport area to the other wall, where another downspout connects to the stormwater and then further out to the street.
