Hello,
My partner and I are buying a house. The seller doesn't know if the beams are treated or untreated. The house was built in 1981. What are your thoughts on the beams and the foundation under the beams?

  • Pipes and insulation in an unfinished wall, with visible concrete and wooden frame, possibly discussing pressure-treated or untreated sill beams in a house built in 1981.

A bit difficult to tell from a picture like that, but it looks suspiciously treated.
Might be a good idea to bring in a surveyor if the house is otherwise interesting?

Is it on the basement level?

Okay, I have brought in an inspector for a transfer inspection. Moisture measurement/sill measurement will be difficult as there is currently a new bathroom where the picture was taken. The inspector didn't mention it.

It is a renovated bathroom on the ground level. Where the seller has raised the slab and poured new concrete since the drain was moved.
