Hi! I inspected the mouse band on our new house and am wondering if this looks okay? I'm posting a good and a worse example. It varies how much the mouse band sticks out, sometimes not at all, but where it doesn't it still seems tight. Then there are some gaps inside the outer panel boards, as you can see, is that something to worry about? As you can tell, I don't know anything about this :)

  • Close-up of house wall with visible mouse strip protruding. Image shows a gap near the siding boards.
It doesn't seem like there's any air gap that the mouse band is supposed to protect in your pictures.

Agreeing with Matti that the image is a bit unclear, looks like it's beneath some horizontal battens. A small mouse can get in if it's 5 mm, so check carefully, it also depends on where that gap leads. I'm currently trying to fix what someone messed up when it was built, so it's easier to look extra and correct it now if needed.

The mouseband should be where it's ventilated behind the facade, to let air in, but not mice...
