We live in a wooden villa from 1983 where we want to widen a doorway. The wall is the house's main wall. What are the rules when demolishing load-bearing walls? Are all studs load-bearing, so that you always have to provide a header, or can you remove certain ones without needing a header? We have removed much of the drywall on the wall and see horizontal planks at the top and vertical studs below these. Where the vertical ones meet, they are supported by several horizontal.
