Planning to install paneling in the ceiling of the living room/kitchen in the new construction. Ideally, I would like the paneling along the length of the room. But the battens have to be placed across the rafters, which means the ceiling panel must go towards the ridge if I don't want to add another layer of battens.
Will it look good with the panel direction towards the ridge?
Suggestions for another solution?

How are the windows and other light sources positioned?H Hus-Bonden said:
The best and most aesthetically pleasing, in my opinion, is for the ceiling panel to align with the light sources.
That's what we did when we built our house in 2010, and the ceiling panels in all rooms are across the house's longitudinal direction.
We only had a couple of windows on one of the gable sides, for the kitchen and laundry room, otherwise, all windows were on the long sides.
Yes, the windows are on the short sides, so I'd like to have the light along the ceiling panel.
