I'm going to put up decorative panels from Byggmax on the wall behind the stove.
I plan to install this on a wall with mounting adhesive. I'm looking forward to doing it myself, but there are some details I'm considering for the smoothest/best solutions.
1. I have a lamp in the middle of the wall with a cord that is currently in a thin cable duct down to the floor. Should I run this over the panels or is it worth asking an electrician to run it inside the wall OR recess the back of the panels so it has a path down to the outlet between the wall and the panels (or is that a no-no)?
2. Mounting adhesive is on the list of recommended methods for installation and feels cleanest and simplest, but there's still worry that they might fall apart in a week or a month, or can I trust it will hold if I do a good job?
It's a bit like putting a 300L aquarium on a stool; you constantly worry it's going to collapse.
This will be my most visible project in the new house so far, so I want to get it right with minimal "Oh no..." moments halfway through the work.
It is a pellet stove with KMP out through the wall, there is a substantial margin behind the stove so now before installation we have 15cm to spare at the back before we start getting too close, and the panels are 1.7cm thick and the wooden wall behind as it stands was approved by both the installer and the chimney sweep so I believe/hope that 1.7 cm on top of that should not be a problem.
