I'm going to attach the posts to the railing in my deck build and I'm wondering how to best attach the corner post. The posts are 2 pieces of 45x95 that are glued and screwed.
I'm attaching the other posts with 2 carriage bolts diagonally, but I'm uncertain about the corner post since I only have 45x45mm from the post to screw/bolt into. I seem to recall reading that you can't use carriage bolts there, and that you're supposed to nail instead? Feels less safe since the deck is 3 meters high.
Can anyone clear up my questions? :)

I would probably think it's okay to nail. Assuming you have horizontal ribs or whatever it is you've drawn also on the short side, and they (and not least the capping rail) will effectively lock the corner post.

You can also, for extra strength, angle screw the post from above down into the edge beam and the outermost floor joist; it will be hidden by the decking later.

Thanks for the tips! Yes exactly, horizontal ribs in both directions. Do you think it's a bad idea to drill and use carriage bolts or alternatively screw with French bolts?

That could work too if you make sure to pre-drill large enough so you don't split the timber, but I would have settled for something like 6 mm wood screws or nails as I think that would last a long time.

Actually off topic but throwing it in here just in case due to the horizontal slats: Make sure they are placed with small gaps! [link]
Thanks for the link. I've read about it before but never found any recommendations on the spacing between the slats? Looking around the area I live in, it's quite common for people to build such railings even though it's the 2nd floor, I wonder if they've resolved it in some way or if they're breaking the rules? Maybe you can have a plexiglass sheet on the inside while the children are small...
