Just converted a room into a bedroom for my daughter, but it's impossible to sleep in there due to extremely loud rain noise (I've tried it myself, pure torture).
There's a dormer in the room, and when it rains, water collects somewhere above the dormer and falls in large drops onto the metal below (mostly on the two outer edges of the metal). And every drop sounds like a small gong.
There is probably no quick-fix here as you say. Attached is an image of the roof, if anything looks misdesigned feel free to shout it out. You can ignore the white on the image, I laid out some fiberglass fabric to mitigate the worst. But most likely a tinsmith needs to be hired
There should be a gutter on the dormer, like in the picture below.

It would definitely solve the problem!
I've walked around the area and it seems like no one has gutters on the dormers here, maybe it's some form of Skåne tradition…
That would undoubtedly solve the problem!

I'm from Skåne but moved to Kalmar and they have gutters there too
That would undeniably solve the problem!

We had a storage room there, but then I knocked out the wall to my daughter's room because she wanted it bigger.. So we probably haven't heard this sound before.

We are a bit more resilient here in Skåne and can withstand such sounds...
Well, I have something similar at home and even though it's not that bad, it still bothers, at least the day you need to fall asleep but aren't very tired. A quick fix could be to lay out a piece of roofing paper where it drips down. For us, there was a point on each side and if I laid a piece on each side, nothing was heard. That kind of roofing felt with a rough surface, that is. It works until you get it properly fixed at least.

So that's the coarse-surfaced roofing felt. It works until you can fix it properly, at least.
Have checked now and there are two small areas where most of the drops land. Will try your tip as a quick-fix!
