I'm going to make an installation for the kitchen fan's duct (d160+fire insulation) between floors 1 and 2. Unfortunately, a beam is right in the way (can't make the installation further into the room). Is it just a matter of giving up or can you place studs as marked in red and then cut off the one in the middle?

(the board in the middle - between about 7-15 cm on the tape measure - is 25mm thick so I assume it doesn't have any critical function, but feel free to shout if I'm thinking wrong)

Thanks!

  • Wooden beam with a measuring stick showing 7-15 cm overlaps a hole in the floor for ventilation installation, highlighted by red and blue markings.

Saw this now and picture 2 is exactly what I want to do. However, it seems strange that it's 180cm and larger openings that should be considered.
