We were planning to furnish our attic. The floor of the attic (i.e., the ceiling of the floor below) consists of 160x160mm wooden beams (?) resting on the outer walls (double brick walls with an air gap in between, no central load-bearing wall in between). The distance between the outer walls is (inside the house) 6300mm.

Then across them, there is a tension beam in the attic (triangular, "self-supporting") that is anchored down into the roof beams, which rest on the brick walls dividing the rooms, so the tension beam helps support the beams to prevent them from sagging excessively (which they already have a bit).

The distance between the roof beams (the attic floor) is about cc 1200mm.

How much bearing effect would we get by placing new glulam beams on top that cross the existing beams?

I know that if we place 270x56 beams, 5 meters long, cc 600 mm, they will suffice. They will also not have any contact with the existing beams, as they (despite the tension beam) sag a bit.

BUT, we don't want to raise it an additional 270 mm. If we were instead to reduce the dimension (the height of the glulam beams), level out the small differences that exist so that they make contact with the sagging floor, and then attach them with angle irons to the existing floor/roof beams, shouldn't the crossed floor beams interact then, and if so, to what extent?

Enough to remove the tension beam?

An alternative we've received from the architect is to mount IPE 200 or 220, possibly HEA 200/220 steel beams, on both sides of the tension beam, tighten them so they interact with the tension beam, and thus be able to remove the tension function from the beam. However, we will still need to raise the floor to overcome the height of the tension beam.

I have a drawing that the architect made based on measurements of the house, but I can't upload them right now.

I want to start by knowing what it yields to cross (grid) beams where the bottom layer is 6.3m long, 16x16cm thick/high, and spaced cc1200mm, and the top layer in such a case becomes glulam beams, 5m long, cc 600mm, suitable size/thickness, both layers anchored to each other with angle irons.

Anyone have any input?

Inserting a steel beam at the bottom to compensate for the tension beam, I don't know if it's worth it, as it would end up in the middle of the room.
 
By the way, on top we then screw-glue floor particle boards and then a suitable floor (do you need to lay floor gypsum on top of the floor particle board, or is floor particle board enough on cc600mm studs/beams/joists, whatever it's called?)
